What We Believe:
I. Of The Holy Scriptures
We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men inspired by God, and is a perfect collection of teachings from God; that God is its author, salvation of mankind is its purpose, and it is true without any part mistaken; that it tells us how God will judge us; so we know it is now and always will be the true guidance for Christian worship and whatever the Bible tells us about life, beliefs, and opinions, it is very important we should follow it. II. Of The One True God
We believe there is one, and only one, living and true God, an infinite, intelligent Spirit, whose name is JEHOVAH, maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honor, confidence, and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; equal in every divine perfection, and performing different but perfectly harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. III. Of The Fall Of Man
We believe that Man was created in holiness, under the law of his maker; but by his own sin, fell from that holy and happy state; as a result, all mankind are now sinners, not by constraint, but by their own choice; no part of man is perfectly holy as required by the law of God, but every part is tainted by evil so every man deserves to be eternally punished and is without excuse or any way to change it. IV. Of The Way Of Salvation
We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly from God and not us; through the work of the Son of God; who by the will of the Father, freely chose to become man, but without sin; He honored God's law by his personal obedience, and by his death all our sins were forgiven; He has risen from the dead and is now sitting at the right hand of the Father in heaven; and he brings in his wonderful person the perfect understanding and sympathies for us which makes him qualified in every way to be a suitable, compassionate and an all-sufficient Savior. V. Justification
We believe that the great Gospel truth which Christ gives to all who believe in him is Justification; that Justification includes the forgiveness of sin, and the promise of eternal life based on living righteously; that it is given to us, not because we lived righteously ourselves, but completely through faith in Christ alone; because of that faith, his perfect righteousness is credited to us from God; and it brings us into a state of most blessed fellowship and peace with God and promises every other blessing for now and forever more. VI. Of The Freeness Of Salvation
We believe that the blessings of salvation are made free to all by the gospel; that it is the responsibility of all to accept them immediately through cheerfully, humbly, and with obedient faith; and that nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on earth, but his own sinfulness and personal rejection of the gospel; which rejection results in eternal punishment. VII. Of Grace In Regeneration
We believe that, to be saved, we must first be regenerated or born again; that regeneration includes a turning of our selfish thoughts toward God; that this is effected in a way we can never fully understand but that it is done by the Holy Spirit through the Word of God and leads us to willfully be obedient to the gospel; and that proper evidence of this appears in the holy acts of repentance, and faith and newness of life. VIII. Of Repentance And Faith
We believe that Repentance and Faith are duties from God, and are also amazing graces, sealed in our souls by the regenerating Spirit of God; This causes us to be deeply convinced of our guilt, danger and helplessness, and that the way of salvation is by Christ, so that we turn to God with sincere sorrow and confession and seek God's mercy; at the same time heartily receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as our Prophet, Priest and King, and relying on him alone as the only and perfect savior. IX. Of God's Purpose Of Grace
We believe that Election is the eternal purpose of God of which he graciously regenerates, sanctifies, and saves sinners; this is does not in any way infer with the free will of man but that all things work together for salvation; that Election is a most glorious display of God's sovereign goodness, being infinitely free, wise, holy, and unchangeable; that it is impossible for man to boast but promotes humility, love, prayer, praise, trust in God, and active imitation of his free mercy; and encourages the perfection of all these fruits to the highest degree; that its impact may be truly experienced by those who truly believe the Gospel; that it is the basis of all Christian assurance; and that to truly experience this grace we must seek his kingdom with the greatest care and labor. X. Of Sanctification
We believe that Sanctification is the process by which, by God's gracious will. We are being conformed to his image; that this is a work that continues all our earthly life; that it is begun in regeneration; and that it is made possible in the hearts of believers by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, the Sealer and Comforter, in the many different ways, but especially through reading the Word of God, self-denial, watchfulness and prayer. XI. Of The Perseverance of Believers
We believe that those who truly believe will remain with Christ until the end; that their persevering love of Christ is the great mark, which separates them from the false professors; that a special Provider watches over their lives; and they are kept in salvation by the power of God through faith. XII. Of The Harmony Of The Law And The Gospel
We believe that the Law of God is the eternal and unchangeable rule of his moral government; that it is holy, fair, and good; and the Bible tells us that reason it is impossible for man to follow its laws is because of man's love of sin; that the only way to save them from the law and restore them to grace is through a Mediator, Jesus Christ, who gave perfect obedience to the holy Law: this is the gospel and the foundation establishing the visible church. XIII. Of The Gospel Church
We believe that the visible church of Christ is a congregation of baptized believers, joined together by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel; observing together the ordinances of Christ; governed by his laws; and exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by his Word; that its scriptural offices are elders and deacons whose qualifications, claims, and duties are defined in the Epistles to Timothy and Titus. XIV. Of Baptism And The Lord's Supper
We believe that Christian Baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, into the name of the Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit; to symbolize in a serious and beautiful picture, our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, with its work in us: death to sin and resurrection to a new life; that it must be done before becoming a member of the church; and before participating in the Lord's Supper, in which the members of the church by use of bread and juice of the vine, are to observe together the eternal love of Christ; always followed by serious self-examination. XV. Of The Christian Sabbath
We believe that the first day of the week is the Lord's day, or the Christian Sabbath; and is to be set apart to religious purpose by preparation for the rest that remains for the people of God. XVI. Of Civil Government
We believe that the Civil Government is of Divine appointment, for the interest and good order of human society; and that magistrates are to be prayed for, honored, and obeyed; except only in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the only Lord of the conscience, and the Prince of the kings of the earth
XVII. Of The Righteous And The Wicked
We believe that there is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and the wicked; that such only as through faith are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus; and sanctified by the Spirit of our God, are truly righteous in his sight; while all who live in disobedience and unbelief are in his sight wicked, and under the curse; and this difference continues among men both in and after death. XVIII. Of The World To Come
We believe that the end of the world is approaching; that at the last day Christ will descend from heaven and raise the dead from the grave to final retribution; that a solemn separation will then take place; that the wicked will be condemned to endless punishment and the righteous to endless joy; and that this judgment will fix forever the final state of men in heaven or hell, on principles of righteousness. |
